My Look Up Story

Write a story around a moment that filled you with optimism and hope for the future.

Sometimes, life gets so busy and monotonous that we get fed up and negative about everything. One such day, I too was upset and kept cribbing about life.

Sometimes, you don't know who to go and talk to, because you don't want to look too helpless. But that is the time when nature starts teaching you lessons. And no book teaches you these things, certain instances happen that it comes upon as self-realisation. Here is my story.

I was nervous as it was my submission time in a week and my project work was left and a tragedy took place. I lost the pen drive with all my data.

I searched for it, everywhere. Yes, literally everywhere.

I turned my house upside down, but I didn't find it. I had taken it to college, maybe I lost it. I am doomed, I gave up. In that moment, my dad came up to me and said, "Beta, be calm and try to recollect where you last used it. You will find it, please do not panic."

I tried to stay calm. And then I had a dream as if the pen drive is safely in my bag, right in the secret pouch I always keep it in.

In that moment I thanked everyone wholeheartedly, the universe, my parents and just everyone. Gratitude - a very big stepping stone. It is a very uplifting emotion and a greatest virtue.

Never leave a chance to thank people around you. Positive energy will come back to you, remember, what goes around, comes around!

Miraculously, I got my pen drive in my Professor's cabin the next day. I thanked him for keeping it safe. The turmoil and the somersaults of my mind calmed down. It was then I realised the importance of gratitude. That moment filled me with optimism and hope for the future. When you stop expecting, great things happen. Just have the faith and move ahead.

See opportunity in every difficulty. Trust your abilities, never give up and share fat thank you's with everyone around! Optimism is healthy, trust me. Be selfless, let go the 'ego' and you'll find happiness around!

This is my story of optimism, since that incident I lookup to life with gratitude and kindness.

Life starts throwing surprises at you, when you stop cribbing and complaining. Miracles happen.

As elusive as it may seem, optimism can be found all around - in the laughter of children, in the excitement on your pet's face when you get back after a long day, and in the smile of your loved ones when you go back home after months of being away. You just have to embrace it!

Stay happy and never ever forget to show gratitude!

Tell us about your most memorable day, when you spent time with the ones you love - your family, your closest friends, or even your pet - and it gave you the strength and motivation you needed to go on with optimism, and look up. Share your story with #together

She was diagnosed with cervical cancer. She broke down. Her husband held her and told her that it is okay, they will fight it out.

She had stopped living, she felt dead from within.

"I am dying, Ritwik," Neha said.

"Who said? The doctors have sent the reports for a second opinion and it is stage 2. Look at me, Neha, my wife is a strong woman and she can fight all odds. I have faith in you, do you?"

She looked in his eyes, sea blue eyes, she fell for. Those eyes never lied. Maybe he is right, she thought.

Bouts of vomiting after chemotherapy would drain her and she would go back to depression.

It was Ritwik who took care of her, took her to the nearby park, spoke all good things to her.

He held her hand one day and said, "You know, Neha, I must have taken you at times for granted, while being busy at work. But this sickness of yours has made me realise our near and dear ones should always be our priority. Now all we need to do is - fight it out. Coz I won't let you go so early. There are years left for us to love, fight and then love more. You get it?" She smiled.

Neha would go deep into depression and would sulk when alone, but Ritwik started being with her most of the times and would read out positive winning stories of Cancer patients who won battle against the C.

It was her last chemo session. She asked the doctor, about her sickness. Dr, Rao said looking at Ritwik, "Neha, I see many cases where a woman diagnosed with Cancer is abandoned by family and husbands - rarely support. You are very lucky, he's always been there!"

Holding Ritwik's hand she said, "Ritwik, he is my life. In this journey, he has been my strength. I look up to him for positivity. He has made me alive or else I had given up, Doc. I have spent many good days with him, but these days here at the hospital made me realise he loves me and I also felt bad about the times I fought with him for not giving me time. But he is the best. He gave me the strength and motivation I needed to go on with optimism, and look up to these horrible chemo sessions. He is a sweetheart, totally!"

Ritwik and Neha now visit the doctor regularly. Though the Cancer is cured, but it was advised to Neha to go for check up routines. Not once does Ritwik let Neha alone. They are always #together. Together in this journey called 'life'. Neha is more positive about life now.

A Bold Step

Tell us about a time when you took a bold step, and brought about a big change in your own life. Share your story with the world using #StartANewLife.

Harish and I decided to start afresh. We ran from our respective homes. No one agreed for our marriage. We tried our best. But sometimes, no one understands.

We took the leap and we ran away. I know it was a deep guilt down, but I wasn't ready to spend my life with a partner my parents chose for me. I didn't like him nor had any mental connection with him.

One day, Harish said, "Anna, let's run off. I can't see you getting married to someone else. Even after repeated requests your parents are not giving us their consent. Are you ready for it?"

Initially, I was a bit skeptical. but finally, we decided to have faith and take the bold step.

We started up everything on our own. A rented home, jobs, livelihood. But what kept us going was our love for each other. It was all worth the ride.

Choosing him was the wisest decision of my life. He is a constant support system. I would have never been happy otherwise.

Yes, it does feel bad to have let down my parents, but maybe sometimes in life, you need to get serious and think about your own self.

Harish and I don't belong to same religion, leave alone caste. But we still manage a decent living, we are there for each other always, and I guess that's what is needed for a marriage, isn't it?

Harish helps me and we have equal duties at home. He understands me completely and we are always on the same page, maybe that is 'compatibility'. This man defines that word for me!

We never make each other feel less of anything. This bold step of running away from home has been full of guilt yet adventurous. But I am glad, it didn't go against me. I took a chance and it worked for me!

Life is all about risks. But taking leaps leads you to change your life. If it is something good, it is a blessing, otherwise never mind, keep it as a lesson.

It has been 2 years now. When I look back, now even my parents are convinced of my choice. We have a 7 month old daughter. And a shocking news, the guy my parents chose for me was a wife beater, we all heard. He got caught up by police, recently!

I feel blessed to have found love in Harish, sometimes all you need is to be for each other and not find an escape. Difficulties pass through, so that one day you look back and smile through it all.

This big bold steps defines my life. Things changed for better and today I am completely at peace for the giant leap I took and we make a happy complete family!

Elle Juicy Peach Lip Balm - Review

Today, I am reviewing Elle's juicy lip balm (Juicy Peach) which is available  in 6 different flavours in the market.

Price - INR 110 for 9 ml

Olive oil
Jojoba oil
Vitamin E
SPF 15

I picked Juicy peach amongst a variety of Lip Balms. The packaging says Lip Balm but to me it gives a feel of lip gloss however it has the goodness of Vitamin E and Jojoba and Olive oil making it an appropriate nourishing lip balm. It gives a nice light hint of peach colour of lips making them look supple and attractive. This lip balm cum gloss has SPF 15 to protect and prevent lips from darkening. It makes your lips very soft and smooth.

Juicy Lip Balm is creamy and smooth in texture, looks glossy on lips when applied. But the glossiness fades away after an hour leaving the lips moisturized with a little shine. So, the hydration stays on the surface and does not penetrate the upper layer like any other good lip balm would do.

The packaging is a simple clear tube with a black screw cap. The nozzle of the tube releases the lip balm only when squeezed, there is no trouble of product wastage by oozing and stuff. Overall it is a simple, sturdy and super travel friendly packaging. This impressive product appends gloss and nourishment to your delicate lips.

Verdict: You can get average colour plus little moisture with these. The product stayed on me for one and half hours. Low staying power, though!
